What is a URL? Understanding URLs
What is a URL? URL is the abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator and was defined back in 1994 by Tim Berners-Lee and the URI working group (RFC 1738). URL is nothing more than a generic reference for a web address (URL) and all the set of world guidelines, documentation, cataloging, and standards that go along with it.
