Internet Search Engine – Google Results Page
When you search for something with Google, you get back a results page called the ‘Search Engine Results Page’ (SERP). There’s lots of stuff displayed on this page, and it shows you how many websites Google found that are relevant to what you’re looking for.

Paid Google Search Ads
Very top of the Google Search Page will reveal paid ads for specific keywords [AD]. In the digital marketing industry this is known as, ‘Pay Per Click Advertising’ (PPC). Depending on the volume of monthly searches, competition of advertisers, an advertiser can pay anywhere from $2 per click to $75 per click. In my example of ‘Dark Roast Coffee’, an advertiser will pay roughly $2.24 per click for a monthly search volume of 3,600.
Google My Business Map Pack
The Local 3-Pack is a SERP feature containing a map and a list of three local businesses. The Local 3-packs are usually shown for queries about nearby businesses or organizations. Users searching for local businesses often have a high commercial intent. So, scoring a position in a local 3-pack can do wonders for bringing in new customers. The image to the right shows a local 3-pack returned for the search query “Legal Services”. These local map listings get approximately 44% of the clicks on any given search.

Organic Search Results
This next section displays Google’s Search Results – Organic Results. Organic results are unpaid search results that are ranked by their relevance to the query entered into the search engine (i.e. search phrase or keyword). Organic listings are ranked based on a number of unique factors all controlled by search engines. So when you and I search for a particular keyword, this is the section most people care about.
